Using Primary Source Documents
What is a primary source?
A primary source is a document that was created at the same time that an event occurred by an eyewitness or a participant in that event. It could be a photograph of the event, a diary entry by one of the participants, a letter between the participants, a newspaper article written at the time of the event. This is in comparison to a secondary source, which would not have been created at the time of the event and usually contains some sort of analysis.
